Mount Vernon, Virginia

The tomb of George Washington and Martha. Behind the iron door, 25 of their relatives are entombed. The plaque above says:

I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. St. John 11:25-26

The mansion. We didn't get to go inside because there was a very long line and it was cold and rainy outside.

On the last day that my family was here in Maryland, we decided to go to Mount Vernon, the residence of George and Martha Washington. You can walk around the entire estate, tour the mansion, see the quarters and the kitchen, laundry room, etc. ; and also visit the large museum that tells all about George Washington. I am really not that into history but this was a very neat place. I learned alot!

Birthday(s) Dinner

My dad wanted us all to go out to downtown Baltimore and walk around and of course eat. Four of us have March birthdays: Ricardo 21st, Dad 26th, Me 29th and my dad's youngest brother's is the 31st; so my dad wanted us to celebrate together. We went to Phillips and it was really good.

It was a very cold day when we went but we were prepared with hats, gloves, scarves, the works! It was a nice day to walk around.

DC and Frederick

These are pictures from Frederick, Maryland. This town is basically an old, historic town. We didn't get to see much here, mostly beautiful old buildings. It was sooooo cold that we cut our day a bit short. We were not expecting such a cold day. We did get great pics though.

I knew that I would love being here so close to DC to learn and refresh my memory about all the wonderful history of America! The top picture is of Ford's Theater where Lincoln was shot. The gift store has everything Lincoln that you can imagine. The bottom picture is of the Vietnam Memorial reflecting wall. We had such a great time focusing on our country and all the people and events that it was founded on and those who have sacrificed for it.

My parents and my little sister Liana came to Maryland to visit on the 7th. We went down to D.C. on the 8th and spent the entire day walking around. We had such a great day and the weather was beautiful. I really don't care for history too much in a school environment but I love to be where so much history has happened.

Well we woke up to almost 6 inches of snow! School and work got cancelled so we decided to get bundled up and head out for some fun. Too bad Ellie got cold after 5 minutes and wanted to go inside. :( Oh well. Jay got to play and that has been his dream since we moved here.
